My Top 20 Favorite Monster Movies (part 2)

Art by me - http://kaijusaurus387.deviantart.com/art/Tetsuo-the-Iron-Man-630594032
Well last time we talked about smog monsters, STDs, and parasites and this time we're talking about more of my favorite creepy critters!

Links to videos in the image captions.

Tokyo Gore Police
While my tastes in raunchy, Japanese gore-fest is limited in all honesty when it comes to films; I like anime and manga like that just fine, but somehow when it's in film it makes me pretty queasy. However, Tokyo Gore Police is a very, very big exception (not to say this movie isn't extremely nauseating at times).

The idea of a disease that causes people's wounds to grow weapons and some pretty unexplainable mutations is just such a great concept to me. I guarantee that if when I cut my hand off it would turn into a crab-claw/eel mouth hybrid, I would chop it RIGHT NOW!

Just to let you know, this movie is NOT for everyone's tastes. These are some of the most disgusting visuals I've ever seen. I've yet to see a movie with anything worse than that damn, chair.

Ghoulies
Ghoulies is a movie that is very close to my heart. I watched the second Ghoulies when I was around 7-8 with my dad on cable and it had an extremely lasting effect on me; not only horrifying me, but it also left serious mark on my taste in horror and fiction in general. Ghoulies is the entire reason I love the whole "small monster" thing and absurd horror stories.

If you at all like Horror Comedy, B Movies, So Bad It's Good, or 80's Horror, this movie is the holy grail of your life. The movie isn't really sold as a Horror Comedy, but it does come across as one.The pure schlockiness though is really part of the charm and what makes it great.

Odd Thomas
People seeing ghosts to solve mysteries is nothing new by any means. Neither are ghosts that help solve mysteries. Odd Thomas, however, is by far the best supernatural mystery I've ever seen. It's also full of great acting which is something missing from MOST of the movies on this list.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon
Before you read this paragraph, watch that video. Doesn't that gorgeous critter just look alive? Honestly, I would choose these special effects over any CGI dinosaur or Satan any day. You really get something a lot more from a person inside of a creature-suit, it just feel so much alive; probably because it is.

There's also something to be said about the movie itself; it's sheer quality is outstanding for the time it was made (1954); the story is well crafted and seems believable enough, the filming and direction is great, the writing is great, and the acting is very good and natural. It's honestly hard to believe this movie was made in the time it was, with all the schlock and cheese that was pushed out of the media in fear of nuclear radiation and space aliens; don't get me wrong, I love those movies, but they really do get kind of old.

Godzilla vs Megaguirus
This is the first Godzilla movie I ever saw, but I love it for so many more reasons than that. This movie really stand out from the other Godzilla movies (a lot like Godzilla vs Hedorah) story and tone-wise. There's times when this movie seems like it wants to be a horror movie and even references the movie Alien; which a lot of the movie seems like it's a homage to).

Also, I think Megaguirus is one of my favorite monsters shown in the Godzilla Franchise so far. Her design reminds me of Battra a lot (another favorite) and she's one of the very few Dragon-fly kaiju I think of. Plus she queen of the Meganula, a monster previously from the film Rodan!

Lovecraftian Horrors

Of course we all know Lovecraft, but what many don't know, is that he is the grandfather of an entire genre. Lovecraftian Horror is a genre that deals with the cosmic, the weird, and of course tentacles. Slender Man, Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and The Thing are all examples of Lovecraftian Horrors, monsters that can shape shift, are amorphous, can cause madness just by seeing them, or are at the very least, tributes to Lovecraft's writing. And today, we'll be talking about some Lovecraftian Horrors.

Hedorah
I'f you ask me, Hedorah put all of Lovecraft's Outer Gods to shame. Lovecraft would died from amazement to see Hedorah in all his pollution glory.  Hedorah all most deserves his own article this Halloween, but because we are talking about Lovecraftian Horrors, I had to include him.

Hedorah comes from the Godzilla Series, one of the last places you'd expect to a Lovecraftian Horror. Hedorah comes to Earth on a meteor as a group of microbes. The microbes quickly feed on the pollution of Japan's ocean and grow and evolve into four different forms. He also can change instantly back to each of these forms and then back again.

Watch his movie, it's incredible, and probably the strangest Godzilla movie ever made. It seems to be made for people on strong, strong hallucinogenic drugs. With cartoons, strange fish mask night clubs, and of course, Godzilla. So what more could you want in a movie.

Slender Man
If you've prowled the dark side of the internet for long enough, you know of Slender Man. I personally am somewhat new to the Slender Man Fandom. Only learning of him last year, I was immediately entranced by his faceless beauty.

Slender Man was created by Victor Surge on SomethingAwfulForums. And ever since he's been a huge internet success. Also, he's become a large part of the Creepypasta culture. He's probably the most iconic Creepypasta character ever, with Jeff the Killer following after him.

Hunson Abadeer
Hunson Abadeer appears in the cartoon Adventure Time as the father of one of the series' most iconic characters, Marceline. An ancient creature coming from the Nightosphere, this demonic creature makes his appearance in the episode "It Came From The Nightosphere" and comes to the Land of Ooo, to eat the souls of many creatures. By the end of the episode, he transforms into a badass, soul sucking, eldritch abomination. And then sadly he turns into a big softy after hearing Marceline's french fry song, which you can listen to on the internet, it's become a real song nearly.

That's it for now, this is gonna be a 2 part (maybe more) article, so to be continued.

Bandai Creation 2013 King Ceasar

Image is taken from here

I just bought this today for 18 dollars, it was so worth it! This is a great figure, I totally love it. So let's get started.

Articulation
The figure has five points of articulation, and it kinda has two others. The arms will move a little more than 180 degrees, you have to force them a little once they reach the center but not really. The legs do move 360 degrees but you do have force them in the back and they might scratch the paint so I really wouldn't suggest it. The tail moves 360, which I really wasn't expecting. The waist moves 360, no forcing needed. And as for those two that I mentioned above, the ears will move :D ! You have to force them and they've nearly popped out on me. I really don't think they are supposed move, but they can.

Paint Job/Sculpt
The paint job is pretty accurate but I think the body should be a little lighter colored and more reddish rather than brown. The detailing done with the paint on the hair is also a nice touch.  The sculpt is great, really great when is comes to the face. The face is amazing. The detailing is also amazing.

Rap Up
This is a very great figure, get it if you can find. Wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for though, got mine for 18. Buy it if you find it, so till next time this Mordle Warrior signing off.
